About Terrence Higgins Trust
The Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) has been dedicated to ending HIV for over 40 years. It is the sole voluntary organisation offering a wide range of HIV and sexual health services, boasting extensive internal expertise, national outreach, and community trust among those affected by HIV in the UK.
As the largest HIV and sexual health charity in the UK, THT annually serves nearly two million individuals nationwide.
Health Heroes: Wales Volunteer Coordinator
Through this Welsh Project, THT aims to recruit over 100 volunteers and directly engage 7,500 individuals in South Wales through leaflets and information dissemination. An additional 25,000 people will be reached through online platforms, print advertisements, and word-of-mouth promotion. The project also includes a digital survey targeting over 1,000 residents of South Wales to gather insights on their experiences with HIV and sexual health services.
The presence of a Wales Volunteer Coordinator will play a crucial role in empowering local Welsh communities to advocate for HIV-related issues and support those affected by HIV. Furthermore, it will provide an invaluable opportunity for Welsh communities to contribute to shaping HIV services and policies in Wales.
The £10,000 Grant
The Hospital Saturday Fund has awarded a £10,000 grant to the Terrence Higgins Trust. This funding will support the salary of a Wales Volunteer Coordinator, enhancing voluntary capacity to address sexual health needs, bolster campaigns, and work towards ending HIV in Wales by 2030.
