About Pilgrims Hospice
Pilgrims Hospice is dedicated to supporting individuals facing a terminal diagnosis, along with their families, helping them to live well in every moment. The organisation was founded 35 years ago through the vision of Ann Robertson, a village nurse who sought to make a difference in the lives of those in her community affected by terminal illness. Thanks to her dedication and the contributions of many, Pilgrims Hospice now has a team of over 200 nurses and therapists, who collectively support thousands of people across East Kent each year.
Virtual Therapy Centre
The Pilgrims Wellbeing Team promotes physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through virtual support, making services accessible to those unable to visit in person. The Virtual Therapy Centre offers a variety of pre-recorded sessions, including relaxation, yoga, tai chi, creative arts, and exercise, catering to a wide range of needs. Additionally, the hospice hosts two weekly Zoom sessions one for patients and another for their families, connecting and providing a supportive environment.

Personalised Support
Pilgrims Hospice provides individualised care through a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains, consultants, and doctors. Together, they create tailored support packages, ensuring that patients receive the care they need, when and where they need it.
For those unable to attend a Therapy Centre, support is available in their home, at a Pilgrims Outreach Centre, in a care home, at a hospital, or within one of the hospice’s inpatient units. The approach is holistic, addressing both physical symptoms and the psychological and emotional wellbeing of each patient. A nurse or doctor will assess individual needs and develop a personalised treatment plan to ensure comfort and quality of life.
The Grant
The Hospital Saturday Fund awarded a £2,000 grant to Pilgrims Hospice to help fund 80 hours of specialist nursing care within its inpatient units. This funding will support the continuation of vital hospice services, ensuring that patients and their families receive essential care within their local community.
