The Hospital Saturday Fund donated grants to twenty-five Scottish charities at a special reception hosted at Glasgow City Chambers on 29 February 2024. In total, £110,000 was donated to the charities at the event, which was hosted by The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Councilor Jacqueline McLaren.
Among the beneficiaries was Beatson Cancer Charity which received a donation towards replacing their chemotherapy treatment chairs. The charity Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland received a grant to fund a specialist nurse in the West of Scotland and Clan Cancer Support grant will be used to fund complementary therapy sessions for people affected by cancer across Scotland. Also receiving grants were Scottish Cot Death Trust to enable them to provide bereavement support, and Blood Bikes Scotland who will use their grant towards funding a replacement vehicle. Capability Scotland received a grant to improve postural care training and awareness, and the Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s donation will be used to provide community healthcare support services.

Speaking at the reception The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren, celebrated the extraordinary work of all the charities receiving donations from The Hospital Saturday Fund. The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren, had nominated Lord Provost’s Funds as her chosen charity for the event, and the donation from HSF will support applications relating to the areas of medical need, ill health or disability.

In 2024 The Hospital Saturday Fund will give £2.25 million in donations and grants to medical charities for care and research, hospices and hospitals across the UK, Ireland and Malta. Assistance will also be given to individuals whose illness or disability has caused financial difficulties.
