Thank you for your generous donation of £2,000 in November 2017. Your funding has helped Willow to plan, organise and provide unique Special Days for seriously ill young women with cervical cancer and their families from across the UK. Our beneficiaries tell us that looking forward to their Special Day gives much joy at a time of great sadness, anxiety and uncertainty. It allows them and those closest to them to create lasting memories.
In 2017, Willow delivered 62 Special Days for young women living with cervical cancer, and their families. Their words are the best illustration of why unforgettable experiences are so important when you are living with a life-threatening or terminal illness.
Louise is 38 and lives with her husband and 4 children. Louise was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer and was referred to Willow by her Macmillan nurse. For her Special Day she asked for a family break in Cumbria. Louise’s mum joined the family too.
Husband Donnie said: “My wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer in December 2016. We have four children and they all cope differently. Every day brings something new and my wife stays strong.
Our Special Day was a chance for the whole family to be together. It was just what my wife wanted, to have one last holiday together. She managed to spend time individually with us all which she loved. Our time away was perfect for our family and we will cherish these memories forever.”
