On 7th October 2019, Carol Murphy (a member of The Hospital Saturday Fund Grant Making Commitee) and I visited Trinity College School of Medicine to present a cheque for €13,500 to help with funding their Medical Student’s Elective Programme.
While there, we met Professor Michael Gill, Head of School of Medicine, Professor Martina Hennessy, Director of Internship and Associate Professor of Medical Education, Professor Joe Harbison Director of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning, Aine Wade, Programme Manager and Lisa Keane, International Programmes Coordinator at Trinity College School of Medicine.
About Trinity College
Trinity College Dublin Medical School is a unique institution, which celebrated its Tercentenary in 2011. The School incorporates the disciplines of Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, and offers six-degree programmes to a cohort of, approximately, 1,400 students.
The HSF Trinity Medical Elective Grant
In the past, the HSF Trinity Medical Elective Grant enabled students to visit countries as diverse as Tanzania, Zambia and Japan!
The students (pictured above) impressed Carol and I with their presentations, which clearly showed the benefit they had received from HSF’s grant. The Medical School is also in favour of the Responsible Elective Programme that we support.
