Hospice at Home Service
A grant for £2,000 from The Hospital Saturday Fund was warmly received by Martlets Hospice to help with funding towards their Hospice at Home Service during 2019/2020.
Impact
The grant was used to cover the costs of 23 nurse visits to people being cared for in their own homes at the end of their lives in Brighton & Hove. Their Hospice at Home Service makes over 2,500 home visits a year providing expert medical care, respite and emotional support including supporting people’s wishes to die at home.
The wife of one of their patients said:
“When my husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer I was able to cope and keep him in his own home (which is what he wanted) thanks to Martlets’ help. I could not have managed without you.”
The Hospital Saturday Fund are very happy to have been able to support this essential and popular service which helps so many patients and their families.
