Irish Red Cross Visit – January 2019

  • 11th February 2019
  • CEO's Blog

Paul Jackson with Emma Doyle and Gerry Lyons

I visited the Irish Red Cross on 8th January 2019, to present a cheque for €13,038. This will fund two new Edan iM20 patient monitors for the charity’s ambulances.

I met Emma Doyle, Fundraising Executive and Gerry Lyons, Senior Volunteer. Gerry has been a volunteer driver for 17 years and coordinates all the Red Cross ambulance drivers in Dublin.

About The Irish Red Cross

The Irish Red Cross was formally established in 1939. It has a network of over 100 branches throughout the country, which are run entirely by volunteers.

A great deal of the charity’s work is responding to emergencies in Ireland. This includes treating the injured and saving lives. To do this, it has a fleet of 144 vehicles, including over 100 regular ambulances, four-wheel-drive ambulances and minibuses which are stationed right across the country.

As well as dealing with emergencies, the Irish Red Cross supports community events, supplements the health service and provides home-care programmes. It also promotes social inclusion and runs youth programmes.
